In his quest to “make America great again” for white people, in April the Trump administration implemented a “zero-tolerance policy” and began to prosecute as many people crossing the US/Mexico border as possible. This zero-tolerance policy applies to all adults, regardless of whether they cross alone or with their children.
The Justice Department’s colonial law has detained parents and separated them from their children, leading to a sharp rise in the separation of migrant families. Nearly 2,000 immigrant children were separated from parents during 6 weeks between April 19th and May 31st, according to the Department of Homeland Security. More than 100 of these children are younger than 4 years old.
White media outlets like Time magazine are in an uproar as they decry children being ripped from the arms of their parents calling it a “tragedy.” GOP senator Orrin Hatch has stated that the separation of families is “not American.” But anyone who remembers history would attest to the exact opposite. The separation of families is the American way. It is as American as apple pie.
A Walk Down Colonial Memory Lane
Let me offer a reminder that the entire white world was built on the separation and division of Africa as African people would be captured by white slavers and put on slave ships, never to be seen again by their families. In cases where families were thrown in these ships together, they were eventually separated on various islands of the Caribbean and North and South America, or on various plantations in these areas. Once enslaved on plantations, African mothers would live in fear of having their babies ripped from them by white plantation owners to be given as gifts or payment. Enslaved men would also live in fear that their wives would be sold to a neighboring plantation.
Indigenous Native Americans, whose land the white people stole at gunpoint, have historically been victims of white violence where their children would be stolen from them, stripped of their culture and thrown into schools to be “civilized” by the colonizers.
More recently, African families are further separated through the “war on drugs” and mass incarceration where 60 percent of parents are locked up. Not to mention the Africans killed every 28 hours by the police. That, too, is separation.
This is the legacy of America.
This Is Not A New Phenomenon
Yet Democrats and the white left have the gall to attempt to paint this as a new phenomenon created by Donald Trump. In fact, the current issue was created by the beloved Barack Obama’s implementation of family detention of Mexican migrants, as quiet as they try to keep it.
According to DemocracyNow!, “Since 2014, thousands of Central American women and children seeking asylum have been held in private jails. Despite complaints of medical neglect and poor oversight, the Obama administration resisted calls to end the practice.” The anti-Mexican torch has simply been passed to Donald Trump, as Trump builds on the foundation laid by Obama.
The first black president holds the record for deporting more immigrants than any of the white presidents in history, with 2.9 million deportations over 8 years. Obama increased the ICE program by 3,600 percent by the end of his first term in office. He also implemented the immigrant detention centers. Ultimately, the current uproar by the democrats is disingenuous and is just an effort to undermine Trump’s presidency. When Mexican families were being separated under Obama this was not a concern for them. White power is conniving and has a history of only acting upon something when it is beneficial for them.
Africans Must Stand In Solidarity With Mexicans
What is taking place at the border is just another instance in which US imperialism has revealed its atrociousness. It is important for us to stand in complete solidarity with our Mexican and Indigenous brothers and sisters who are crossing the border in an attempt to escape situations which have been imposed on them by the United States. We must recognize that their migration across an illegitimate, colonially-imposed border to the US is done in an effort to recapture some of their resources which have been stolen by the US.
The core issue facing Mexicans and all colonized people is colonialism and the attack that the white world has placed on us for over 600 years. We must recognize that the only illegal immigrant problem that America has is white people who came to this land uninvited, stole the land from its original inhabitants, pushing them into reservations and enslaved African people.
Mexican families were separated centuries ago when the US stole half of Mexico at gunpoint and erected an illegitimate border with families enclosed on either side. This is not a Trump issue, nor is this a Republican issue. This is a white issue! We cannot allow the democrats or white left to obscure the truth and co-opt the struggles of colonized people.
White People Are The Only Illegal Immigrants
We must demand that all the migrant children and parents be released and reunited, and that this land be rightfully turned over to its rightful owners.
This struggle must be raised in our communities because is not just a struggle for Mexicans but for Africans as well. The Trump administration also deported Africans from Haiti and the Dominican Republic, separating African families.
We must raise a popular demand that the only illegal people in the US are white people.
